Rwanda is one of the most beautiful countries in Africa. This tiny country is one of the few safari destinations in Africa where mountain gorillas can be seen in their natural environment. Situated on the eastern rim of the Albertine Rift, Rwanda remains an impressive destination for wildlife adventure and primate tours while in Africa.
Day 1: Arrival at Kanombe International airstrip. Upon arrival, you will be met by our professional wildlife guide, and thereafter you will be transferred to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera national park. We shall have an early morning breakfast and head east of Kigali, a journey likely to take us about one hour on a smooth road. We shall spend the rest of our day game viewing in the park. . The park has spectacular landscape of rolling hills, acacia and Combretum woodlands, grasslands, and swamps and lakes following the meandering course of the Akagera River. Akagera is above all a big game country. Herds of elephant and buffalo emerge from the woodland to drink from the lakes. This is one of Rwanda’s prides as it is the only park in east African with characteristic miombo woodland type and harbours an array of African savanna species like the deffassa waterbuck, plain zebras, impalas, olive babbons, elephant, buffalo, etc. Stay at Akagera Game Lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Parc National Nyungwe Forest via Kigali. We are likely to get here in time to go for a self guided forest walk in the late afternoon. Stay at Gisakura Guesthouse
Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking in the forest. Today we shall spend the whole day in the forest tracking these gentle cousins to human beings as we look for other primate species like the black and white colobus, blue monkey, and the albertine rift endemics – birds in particular. Stay at Gisakura Guesthouse
Day 5: Transfer to Parc National Volcans. This park is famous for the worlds endangered mountain gorillas and the stunning and rare golden monkey. Parc National des Volcans protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range- another home of the rare mountain gorilla- and the rich mosaic of montane ecosystems, which embrace evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp and heathWe shall have an afternoon forest walk as we look out for the forest treasures here. Day 6: Gorilla tracking the whole day. We wake up very early after breakfast and assemble for the most thrilling activity, Gorilla tacking. Staring in the eyes of these creatures at a close distance as they nurse their young is an experience that will leave everlasting memories to any visitor.
Day 7: Transfer to Kigali. We may do Kigali City Tour – the cleanest city in Africa, or depart and end our tour today.
